Data Loss Prevention

This week, HBO proved that even the largest media companies can be victims of a major cybersecurity breach.

This week, premium cable network HBO announced the largest cybersecurity breach in their company’s history, touting itself as the latest major industrial hacking victim in a stream of similar incidents towards the entertainment industry over the past few years. HBO is owned by parent company Time Warner, declined to comment on the specifics of what content was stolen or leaked due to an ongoing investigation, but the hackers themselves claimed to have targeted terabytes worth of information regarding numerous HBO programs, particularly fan-favorite, Game of Thrones. According to the malicious hackers, they plan to leak copious amounts of valuable show information, including scripts and episodes of the popular hit series – costing HBO millions of dollars in revenue.

While fans of the hit series may be excited at the opportunity to gobble up gossip surrounding plot-lines and their favorite characters, the incident raises tremendous questions regarding cybersecurity. If a major media conglomerate isn’t safe, who is?

Could the Hack Have Been Even Worse?

As costly as this most-recent major cybersecurity breach was, it is important to remember that it was the act of an outsider. One of Intelligent ID’s greatest focuses is preventing the even more dangerous scenario when an insider acts as the perpetrator. Had this been the case for HBO and its parent company, Time Warner, it isn’t hard to imagine the irrebuttable damage that an Insider Threat could have caused. As a preventative measure, Intelligent ID’s full cybersecurity suite includes the necessary tools for just that scenario – beginning with our invaluable Encrypt ID function.

The Benefits of Encrypt ID

Despite their popularity in the modern business world, cloud-based systems largely depend upon well-known uniform encryption methods that can prove vulnerable when an outside source wants to penetrate your data-web. As experts in the data security field, our team at Intelligent ID see the problems in today’s fallible encryption practices and take specific measures to face those modern-day threats.

We at Intelligent ID believe that encryption should be readily available. When you utilize a cloud system to store your organization’s most crucial data, the security of that method should never be in question. You should be able to store data in the cloud with absolute certainty that it’s secured every time, and be able to access that data whenever and wherever it’s needed with no compromise to its security integrity. IID’s Encrypt ID function works to eliminate that compromise without any loss to the integrity or convenience of your organization’s cloud usage.

Intelligent ID recognizes each step in a such an insider threat and includes multiple functionalities to address them all.

Intelligent ID is endpoint-based user monitoring and analytics software that secures organizations’ business assets by continuously monitoring and alerting management to suspect events taking place anywhere an endpoint may travel. This includes data loss or theft activity, compliance infractions, workplace liability issues, inefficient use of time and resources, infrastructure concerns, insecure file access, and more.
